"Memories of childhood", consists of two autobiographical accounts of two women who belong to two distinct and different cultures.
Zitkala sa, the author of "The Cutting My Long Hair " was a victim of social and cultural exploitation. The whites were prejudiced native American culture and women. When she was at school, she was forced to cut her long hair which were against her culture. She hide herself even under a bed but 'All in Vain' She decided to protests and struggle till the end because cutting of hair were singn of a coward in her culture. But the authority cut her hair.
Bama, the author of "We too are Human Beings" Was a victim of caste system. She experienced the curse of untouchability when she was in third standard. She saw an old man thought he was very funny. He was holding a packet with a string and she thought that there must be Vada in that. When she returned home and QA told her elder brother about that he narrated the whole story of untouchability. His brother told her that if she would study everyday would be friends.
We saw that both of the girl struggle and overcome the prijudices in society.
